ANGOLA, Ind. – Ian Jackson scored seven of his game-high 29 points as Trine University opened the second half with a 16-3 run to pull away for a 70-62 victory over Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action at Hershey Hall.

Albion shot 50 percent from the field in the first half as it led by as many as seven. Anthony Wash scored a layup as the Britons led 21-14 with 12 ½ minutes left.

Jackson sparked a 18-7 run for Trine by scoring 13 points and dishing out an assist as the Thunder grabbed a 34-28 lead. The Thunder led 39-35 at halftime and never trailed in the second half.

Chris Hutton tried to rally Albion midway through the second half – his trio of 3-point baskets and Eric Evans' layup whittled the deficit to 61-56 with 6 ½ minutes left – but the Britons were unable to complete the comeback.

Hutton scored 21 points, the most he's produced since piling on 24 in an overtime victory over Kalamazoo College in the 2011 MIAA Tournament. Hutton was 8 of 11 from the field Saturday, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Mike Smith added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Britons.

Jackson received support from Scott Rogers and Jared Holmquist who finished with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
