H-SC Rolls Through Huntingdon 99-54 in Bojangles Holiday Challenge

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Hampden-Sydney rolled to a 99-54 win over Huntingdon College in day one action of the Bojangles Holiday Challenge.Randolph College defeated Johns Hopkins 70-48 in the second game.

Hampden-Sydney controlled the game from beginning to end. Mike Murray (Norfolk, VA / Norfolk Christian) scored the game's first points on a jumper at 19:13, and the Tigers led the rest of the game. With H-SC ahead 18-5 at the 14:23 mark, Jerrod Lee made one of two free throws for HC's sixth point. That would be their last point in 5:01 of game time as H-SC went from up 12 to up 28, leading 35-7. The Tigers would lead by as many as 36 in the first half as the game went into intermission with an insurmountable 52-19 H-SC lead.

Th second-half proved to be much the same as the first with H-SC leading by as many as 52 and never fewer than 30.

Kodie Critzer (Charlottesville, VA / St. Anne's-Belfield) scored a game-high 15 points off the bench on 5-6 shooting from three-point range. Khobi Williamson (Norfolk, VA / Maury) and Harrison George (Raleigh, NC / Leesville Road) each added 13 points while Williamson tacked on nine rebounds and two blocks. Leon Hargrove (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek) contributed 10 points off the bench while Murray had four points and a game-high six assists in only eight minutes of play. Cam Anderson (Charlottesville, VA / Blue Ridge) added seven points and six rebounds.

Ryan Petty was the lone Hawk in double figures with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Hampden-Sydney shot 37-74 (50%) overall, 12-30 (40%) from three, and 13-21 (61.9%) from the free throw line. Huntingdon was 17-66 (25.8) from the floor, 4-22 (18.2%) from behind the three point line, and 16-29 (55.2%) from the charity stripe. H-SC dished out 22 assists to only nine for HC while the Tigers held a 28-14 advantage in points off turnovers. The Hawks coughed up the ball 24 times and the H-SC bench scored 57 points in the contest.

The Tigers square off against Johns Hopkins tomorrow at 4 pm to conclude the Bojangles Holiday Challenge. Randolph will battle Huntingdon at 2 pm to start the day.
