Baruch Defeats CCNY (61-49) on Alumni Day

The Baruch College Bearcats led the entire game to defeat the Beavers of CCNY, 61-49, in a CUNYAC home contest played on Saturday night in the ARC Arena on Alumni Night.

The Bearcats took control early by shooting 56 percent in the first half (14-25) and used their defensive pressure to limit CCNY (4-5, 0-3 CUNYAC) to only 20 percent shooting (6-30) to build a 33-17 halftime advantage.

The Bearcats (5-2, 2-1 CUNYAC) kept the pressure on during the second half managing on two different occasions to lead by 18 points to record their second conference victory of the season.


Raymond De La Cruzscored a career-high 12 points (3-5 fg) and Granville Gittenshad his first double-double of the season with 11 points and rebounds each.

Eight different players scored at least five points in a balanced scoring attack this evening.

Nathan Lopez was the leading scorer for the visiting Beavers with nine points. The team finished shooting 25 percent (17-69).

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, December 11, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest against the Cardinals of York College.
