Carroll University claims Johnson Bank Tip-Off Tournament title with win over Carthage College

A layup and free throw from Rudy Bentley with 15 seconds remaining in the game lifted Carroll University to a 75-74 come-from-behind victory over Carthage College in the championship game of the Johnson Bank Tip-Off Tournament hosted by the Pioneers.

Carroll held a 10 point advantage at halftime at 41-31 but the Redmen stormed out of the gate in the second half and quickly overtook CU. Carthage extended to its largest lead of the game - 12 points - at 68-56 with 4:53 remianing in the game.

The Redmen led 71-61 with 3:23 to play but the Pioneers closed the game on a 14-3 run, culminating with Bentley's layup and free throw.

Carthage's Luke Johnson led all scorers with 21 points but Carroll was paced by a balanced scoring attack. Jake Bast scored a team-high 15 points for the Pioneers while Bentley chipped in with 13 points. Andrew Rumler and Alec Molter added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
