MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/14/12)—Concordia was outscored 31-17 in the final 12-minutes of play against defending DIII champion St. Thomas and lost 76-62. The Cobbers trailed by one at the break and then tied the game with 11:58 to play in the second half before the Tommies went on their decisive run.

Concordia remained close to league-leading St. Thomas in the first half, and the opening part of the second half, because of solid defense and a 48.1% shooting percentage. The Cobbers trailed by as many nine points with under 8:00 left in the opening half before finishing on a 15-7 run to get to within one at 33-32 at the break. CC took their second lead of the game on the first possession of the second half but couldn't hold the advantage and wound up losing in the final half of the period.

Concordia (5-9/3-6 MIAC) shot 48.2% (27-for-56) from the field but just 14.3% ( 2-for-14) from 3-point range. The Cobbers attempted only seven free throws in the game. Brandon Fisher led all players with 17 points. He was 8-for-13 from the floor. Ebo Nana-Kweson added 12 points and tied a career high with seven assists. Jason Huus had six points and eight rebounds.

St. Thomas (10-3/7-1 MIAC) shot 50.9% (28-for-55) from the floor. The difference in the game came from outside the arc and on the free throw line. The Tommies knocked down five more shots from outside the arc and went 14-for-18 from the foul stripe. Like the Cobbers, UST had only two players with double-digit point totals. Will DeBerg had a team-high 15 points and John Nance was 5-for-7 from the floor and added 14 points.

The Cobbers will look to get back on the winning track when they play at Gustavus on Monday, Jan. 16 at 7:45 p.m.
