MILWAUKEE – Dick Luther, a former assistant men's basketball coach for the defending NCAA Division III Tournament Champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks, has joined the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball coaching staff, head coach Skip Noon has announced.

Coach Luther spent the past four years (2008-2012) with the UW-Whitewater men's basketball program. During that time, he helped the Warhawks to a 92-25 record, which included two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and three appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament, culminating with a National Championship in 2012. UW-W defeated Cabrini 63-60 in the championship game.

Recently completing his 46th season coaching basketball, Coach Luther had the chance to work with four All-Americans at Whitewater in Matt Goodwin, Myles McKay, Dustin Mitchell and Chris Davis. Davis was the first-ever Warhawk to be named national Player of the Year.

Prior to coaching at Whitewater, Coach Luther helped the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha win six WCC Conference titles and two state championships in nine years. In 2007, Coach Luther was inducted into the UW-Waukesha Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association named him Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coach Luther developed Action Basketball Camps in 1979. These day camps have attracted more than 23,500 campers. He has hosted many coaching clinics and has spoken at clinics throughout the Midwest. His "Get on Target" motivational program has been presented throughout Wisconsin to many schools, universities and businesses.

Coach Luther and his wife, Kay, have one daughter, Robyn, who was inducted into the UW-Waukesha Hall of Fame in 2005, one son Rod, who is a 1991 UW-Whitewater graduate, and eight grandchildren.
