UNION, N.J. (2/15/12) – Richard Stockton College placed four players in double-figures, as the Ospreys defeated host Kean University, 63-50, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season finale on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Ospreys (18-7, 12-1 NJAC) secure home-court advantage throughout the NJAC playoffs.  The Cougars (6-19, 5-8) had already clinched the second seed in the South Division and will host an opening round game this Saturday.

Junior Bill McDonough led the Ospreys with 16 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore guard Michael Burton led Kean with 12 points and six rebounds.

In the first half, the Cougars opened up a 22-14 lead, as sophomores Ryan Duffy and Xavier Fuller fueled a 9-2 run, with Duffy capping the run with a three-pointer 8:30 left in the half.  Richard Stockton closed out the half with a 16-4 run to lead 30-26 at the break.  McDonough scored six points in the run and gave the Ospreys the lead for good with his three-pointer with 2:51 remaining.

Sophomore guard Ibn Moye led Richard Stockton with 11 first-half points, while Burton netted 10 points in the opening half for Kean.

Kean knocked down three free throws to open the second half to pull to within one point at 30-29, however that would be as close as the Cougars would get.  Osprey senior forward DiAndre Brown opened an 11-3 run with a three-pointer, as Richard Stockton extended the lead to double-digits at 44-32.  The Ospreys led by as many as 13 points at 51-38, before the Cougars trimmed the deficit back to single-digits.  However, the Ospreys hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute to seal the 13-point victory.

For the Coguars, Duffy finished with eight points off the bench.

In the victory, Moye finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while Brown and Darnell McCargo each had 10 points.

Kean hosts #3 Rutgers-Newark in the first round of the NJAC playoffs on Saturday, February 18.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
