Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team opened the second half of Capital Athletic Conference place with a hard-fought 67-58 loss to visiting York (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints drop to 4-13 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Reed Scott led the Saints with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting while Jesse Konadu added 15.

John Magnani pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds while Scott had seven and Konadu chipped in six.

A highly contested game from the opening tip, the first half saw four ties and five lead changes over the first 10 minutes of action.  Tied at 19-19 with just under 10 minutes to play, Konadu sparked an 11-3 run with a three-pointer to give the Saints an eight-point lead at the 4:58 mark capped by a Scott tip-in.  York (11-7, 6-3 CAC) would battle back, cutting its deficit to just a bucket going into the break trailing MU 32-30.

In the second half, Marymount again pushed its lead to eight on a Konadu trifecta at the 12:26 mark before the Spartans responded.  A tip-in by Andrew Pawlyk with 4:21 remaining gave YCP its first lead in 26 minutes of action at 52-51.  Konadu tied things up at 54-54 with 3:16 to go with a putback of his own missed shot but the Spartans hit a three-pointer by Mo Oursler on the next possession to retake the lead for good.

Marymount would pull within three with 59 ticks left on the clock but York closed out the win on the charity stripe.

Four Spartans scored in double-figures, led by Oursler with 14.  Paul Kouvaris and Julian Watson both added 12 while Pawlyk chipped in 10 off the bench.

Marymount returns to the hardwood on Wednesday as it travels to face CAC rival Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
