DOVER, Del. – Darrell Johnson scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Wesley College men's basketball team to a 69-60 victory over Marymount University (Va.) in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday night at Wentworth Gymnasium.  The Wolverines improve to 7-10 overall and 5-3 in the CAC while the Saints fall to 4-12 and 1-7 in the conference.

Johnson shot 9-of-16 from the floor to lead all scorers while Paul Reynolds and David Langan recorded double-doubles with identical 10 point and 10 rebound efforts.  The Wolverines also got sparks off the bench from Rasheed Carter (five points, three steals) and Eric Selby (five points, two steals)

Wesley fell behind early but it would lead the remainder of the way after a jumper by Johnson in transition put them on top 9-8 with 14:07 left in the first half.  The teams would trade baskets but the Wolverines, sparked by five points by Johnson and a dunk by Carter, went on another 14-4 run to open the advantage to 25-14 at the 6:59 mark in the first period.

Down 32-22 at the break, Marymount would attempt to rally back and got it down to a single-possession game with 7:02 remaining in regulation but Wesley scored the next six points to put the game out of reach.

Despite being outshot percentage-wise 41.9% to 41.7%, Wesley made seven more field goals and forced 23 Saints turnovers which translated into 33 points.

The Navy & White return to action on Saturday, January 21 when they travel to Hood College for a 4 pm tipoff.
