Mules Shoot Well to Top Devils in Centennial Match-Up

(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's basketball team suffered an 84-65 loss on the road at Muhlenberg on Wednesday night. The Mules shot 53 percent from the floor, hitting just under 58 percent from three-point range.

 

The Devils struck first, but Muhlenberg answered with a three and led for the remainder of the contest. A Malique Killing three-pointer put the Mules in front, 16-7, at the 14:36 mark.

 

A Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Tilton School) three-pointer pulled the Devils within three, 17-14, midway through the half. The Mules built the lead to double-figures at one point before sophomore Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) hit three free throws to cut the margin to 26-21 at the 6:55 mark.

 

Matt O'Hara hit three free throws at the end of the half to give Muhlenberg a 44-33 advantage at the break. The Mules stretched the lead to 12 in the opening minutes of the second half, and held a double-digit edge for the remainder of the game.

 

Spencer Lidic led Muhlenberg with 21 points and seven rebounds, hitting 6-of-7 shots from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Killing finished with 18 points, four assists and three steals while A.J. Dean tallied 11 points and six assists on the night.

 

First-year Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Lawrenceville School) led the Red Devils with 14 points and seven rebounds, hitting 8-of-8 free throws and blocking three shots. Honig added 12 points, three assists and three steals.

 

Barsanti tallied nine points and first-year Chris Cox (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) scored seven points and dished out a pair of assists.

 

Muhlenberg improves to 7-2 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 4-4 and 2-2 in the CC as well. Dickinson travels to Ursinus College on Saturday for a 4:00 pm tip-off against the Bears.
