SANBORN, TREADWELL LEAD RAMAPO OVER WESLEY

Las Vegas, NV: The Ramapo College men's basketball team notched their tenth win of the season with an 82-78 win over Wesley College at the 2011 D3hoops.com Classic. The Roadrunners now stand at 10-3 overall while the Wolverines are now 3-7 on the season.

Ramapo was led by Will Sanborn with 23 points as he was 5-7 from behind the three point line and 8-14 from the field. Stephon Treadwell grabbed six rebounds and tallied 22 points while going a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe and 9-13 from the field. Demetrius Boards posted 11 points while Garret Thiel and Derek Gotay each contributed ten points. Gotay was a perfect 5-5 from the field while he grabbed six rebounds.

The Wolverines jumped out to a five point lead, 7-2 (17:08) before Ramapo took a one point lead, 8-7 (15:15) on a layup by Sanborn. With the score tied at 18 (9:17) the Roadrunners went on a 10-2 run capped off by a layup by Treadwell, he was assisted by Emanuel to take an eight point lead, 28-20 with 6:06 left in the half. Wesley cut the lead to one point twice in the last six minutes but the Roadrunner would head into the locker room on a 11-5 run to take a 42-32 lead.

In the second half, Ramapo jumped out to a 13 point lead on a made three by Sanborn before the Wolverines tied the game on a 13-0 run, 47-47 (16:42). The Roadrunners and Wolverines would tie the game three more times before Ramapo took a seven point lead on a layup by Patrick O'Connell, 63-56 (10:41). Ramapo saw an 11 point lead, 79-68 shrink to just two, 80-78 during the final three minutes of play. Thiel missed a layup with 14 seconds to go before Wesley took a time out, to set up what would have been the final shot of the game. The Wolverines committed a turnover on the inbounds play allowing Ramapo to get the ball back with seven seconds remaining. Treadwell was fouled and made his two foul shots for the 82-78 victory.

The Roadrunners shot 50% from the field in the game and 75% from the foul line (15-20). Sanborn was named to the D3hoops.com Classic All-Tournament team for his efforts on the court in the Roadrunners two wins.

Ramapo returns to action on January 4th, 2012 when they host NJAC rival New Jersey City University at 7:30pm.
