RAMAPO ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITH 82-60 WIN OVER YESHIVA

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated Yeshiva University tonight, 82-60 in Roadrunner Tip Off Tournament. The Roadrunners remain undefeated on the year, 3-0 while the Maccabees fall to 0-2.

Ramapo was led by Will Sanborn who tallied 15 points and three steals while Jermaine Emanuel posted 12 points and four steals. Garret Thiel grabbed a team high seven rebounds while adding 11 points and Stephon Treadwell recorded ten points and five rebounds.

The game was tied four times in the first half the last coming at 13:57 when Yeshiva hit a jumper to tie the game at 13-13 before Ramapo scored back to back baskets, 17-13. They would extend their lead to as many as nine, twice in the half, the last coming at 39-30 with 1:37 left in the half. Yeshiva scored the final basket of the half to cut the lead to eight (41-33) heading into the locker room.

Ramapo shot 41% (16-39) from the field in the half and 70% (7-10) from the foul line while Yeshiva shot 61% (13-21) from the field and 66% (4-6) from the behind the three point line.

The Roadrunners went on a 10-2 run to open the second half to take a 16 point lead, 51-35 with 16:30 to go in the game. Yeshiva would cut the lead to eight on two made foul shots (14:03), 51-43 before Ramapo started to pull away with a tip-in by Treadwell, 61-49 for a 12 point lead. Their biggest lead came with 2:11 on the clock on a made jumper by Ryan Gille, 82-55 before Yeshiva scored a three pointer and two made foul shots to cut the lead to 82-60.

Ramapo returns to action tomorrow to take on Middlebury College in the championship game at 3:00 pm while Yeshiva will play Gwynedd-Mercy at 1:00 pm in the consolation game.
