Ravens Go Into Break With Win At Their Sails

ROSEMONT, Pa. - The Rosemont College men's basketball team (6-4, 3-2 CSAC) ended their 2011 calendar-year play with an 88-73 victory over the visiting Penn State-Abington Nittany Lions (2-5) in a non-conference game this afternoon.

As late as 15 minutes into the first half the Lions held a slim 23-22 lead over the Ravens but Rosemont outscored the Lions 13-8 in the remainder of the half to take a four-point lead, 35-31, into the halftime break.

Halftime adjustments from the Ravens seemed to work as they outscored PSU-Abington 34-19 to up their lead to 19 points at 69-50 after 11 minutes were played in the second half. The Ravens held their largest lead, 76-52 with 7:40 remaining and coasted home from there.

The Ravens simply shot better than their opponents this afternoon, hitting on 52.6% of their shots compared to only 36.6% converted by PSU-Abington. Rosemont's outside shooting was especially telling as the difference with the Ravens shooting 9-for-19 (47.4%) from beyond the arc and the Nittany Lions hitting on only 5-of-29 (17.2%) from trey-town.

Junior Justin Chaney (Williamstown, NJ) led all scorers with 17 points. Junior Tremell Green (BOK/Philadelphia) just missed a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Senior Harrison Carsillo (Collingswood) and junior Mitch Carsillo (Collingswood) also hit double-figures, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.

Will Alton (14 points) and Mike Marvin (double-double with 12 points and 14 boards) led the Nittany Lions.

The Ravens now go on their Winter Break, returning to the hardwood on Thursday, 01/05/2012 when they travel to FDU-Florham in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00pm.
