OSWEGO, N.Y. - After leading just 34-30 at the half, the No. 24-ranked Oswego State (9-1) men's basketball team dominated the second half for an 83-55 non-conference win over Cazenovia (3-7) at Laker Hall Friday night.

Senior Chad Burridge (Hannibal, N.Y.) also became the school's all-time career leader in blocked shots when he blocked his 217th shot 2:35 into the game to move him ahead of Ahmad Mims (2002-06) on the all-time list.

Holding a distinct height advantage, the Lakers outscored the Wildcats 44-24 in the paint and made 17 free throws compared to the Wildcats' six in the contest.

The first half was a struggle for the home team, though. Shooting 0-for-7 from three-point range in the opening half, the Lakers did not have more than a three-point lead until Burridge converted a three-point play for a 29-23 advantage. That was just moments after Rashawn Powell (Fr., Johnson City, N.Y.) broke a 23-23 tie to give the Lakers the lead for good.

The Wildcats cut the lead to four at the half, but a 10-0 run midway through the second half, ending with a Burridge dunk, broke the game wide open. Cazenovia had three turnovers during the run.

Following the spurt, Sean Michele (Sr., East Rochester, N.Y.) started to heat up from the outside. The senior hit four three-pointers in the second half and finished with 14 points to help the Lakers cruise to the win.

Hayden Ward (Jr., Montauk, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 16 points, while Burridge added 15 points and eight rebounds. Chris Gilkes (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) also added 12 points.

Along with the blocked shots record, Burridge passed Nick Perioli (2003-08) into fourth on the school's all-time scoring list.

The Lakers return to action on Jan. 3 with a trip to Division I Texas Pan-American.
