HSU Rolls Over UTD On The Road

RICHARDSON, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team shot 56 percent and beat Texas-Dallas 80-58 in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activity Center on Thursday night in Richardson.

The Cowboys had their most complete effort of the year as HSU hit 13-of-25 3-pointers and also held the Comets to 39 percent shooting and just five field goals in the second half.

The teams went back and forth in the early going and it was tied at 8-8 with 14:24 to play in the first half. The Cowboys ten went on an 8-0 run and took a 16-8 lead and never trailed again.

It was 18-15 when the Cowboys scored seven straight to take a 25-15 lead and UTD only had it under 10 on three more occasions. HSU pushed it out to 38-22 on a Terrance Booker 3-pointer with 3:28 to play in the half, but UTD closed the half with an 11-5 run to make it 43-33.

The Cowboys put the game away with a 22-6 run that included five 3-pointers (three that came from John Derr).

Matt Addison led the Cowboys with 23 points and six assists and Derrick Jefferson, Terrance Booker and John Derr had 13 points each. Kyle Schleigh led UTD with 20 and Chris Barnes had 12 points.

HSU is now 4-0 and 3-0 in ASC action. UTD fell to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. HSU plays at Ozarks on Saturday at 3 p.m.
