Falcons Lose to Puget Sound

The Falcon men's basketball team's four-game winning streak was snapped with a 67-64 loss to Puget Sound on Saturday at the Pacific Lutheran Thanksgiving Tournament.

Shane Manor (Altoona, WI, UW-Superior) led the Falcons with a season-best 24 points. The 24 points is just one of his UWRF career best. He was 8-17 from the field and 8-10 from the line to lead the Falcons. He also led UWRF with 10 rebounds, including five at each end of the court, and five steals.

The Falcons did not shoot well in this game. The finished 21-58 (.362) from the field, including just 4-19 (.211) from behind the arc. They were 18-27 (.667) from the line. It was the team's worst shooting performance, percentage wise, of the season.

Brian Kimble (Stevenson Ranch, CA, Coll. of Canyons JC) added 12 points and was the only other Falcon in double figures. He also had eight rebounds and a team-best four assists.

The contest was tied three times in the first half, oherwise UPS led the entire way. The last time the game was tied came with 7:17 to play when Utke hit a jumper to tie the score at 22-22. After that UPS went on a 6-0 to take a 28-22 lead. Their biggest lead was nine points, 36-27, with 50 second to play in the first half.

The Falcons battled to stay in the game in the second half and with 2:17 to play they tied the game for the first time, 62-62, when White hit two free throws. UWRF took a 64-63 lead with 1:06 to play when Taylor Peterson hit a layup. UPS won the game at the line in the last minute., They went 3-4 from the line and held the Falcons scoreless. UWRF's Anderson tried a three-pointer with one second to play but the attempt missed.

UPS, now 5-0, was led by Derek Jobe who scored 14 points and grabbed seen rebounds.

The Falcons, now 4-2 overall, will next open WIAC play on Saturday at UW-Platteville. Tip off is set for 5 p.m.
