Big Second Half Buries Rangers

More news about: Drew

Hood's Cameron Cook led all scorers with 24 points and added eight rebounds to pace the Blazers. For the second-straight game senior Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) topped Ranger scorers with 16 points, going 4-for -11 from the floor.

The Rangers ran into a hot-shooting Blazer team that made 51 percent of shots and had four players in double figures. Hood grabbed the initial lead of the first half and built up a 12 point advantage at the 13:49 mark. Drew quickly erased the deficit with a 12-0 run to tie the game a 21 with a little over nine minutes to play in the first half.
After the big Ranger run, the sophomore Cook hit three-consecutive 3-pointers helping the Blazers end the half on top of the Rangers 37-31.
The second half proved to be all Hood as they outscored the Rangers 43-23. Cook continued to create problems for the Ranger defense as he scored 13 of his 24 points in the final 20 minutes of play. The Ranger offense came out cold, missing five of their first six shots from the field. The Rangers ended the contest shooting just 34 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc.

Junior Luke Mullaney (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) put forth another solid effort and led the Rangers with seven of his career-high 11 points in the second half. He also went to work on the glass in 22 minutes of action, pulling down a team-high six rebounds.

The loss will put the Rangers in the consolation game tomorrow against Gettysburg (0-2) who lost to Ohio Northern in their second overtime game of the year against earlier in the night.
