RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team is advancing in the NCAA Tournament after an 85-76 victory against New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent New Jersey City University on Friday night at Nerney Field House. The win is the Cavaliers' 27th in a row at home overall and first in the NCAA Tournament since the 2001-02 campaign.

Senior forward Dom Farrello led all scorers with 28 points, shooting 9-for-18 from the field overall and 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point stripe. Farrello also pulled down eight boards and swiped three steals.

Sophomore point guard Cory Lemons finished with 19 points, including 15 in the second half, and mixed five assists with four rebounds. Sophomore center Goran Dulac notched 12 points, converting 7-of-8 attempts from the free throw line.

Freshman forward Fran Rafferty netted eight points and claimed a career-high 10  rebounds. Junior guard John Boyd also finished with eight points.

The win also improves Cabrini's record to 6-0 this season when trailing at halftime. The Cavaliers shot 43.3 percent from the field during the opening 20 minutes and faced a four-point deficit at the break, 41-37.

Farrello scored 13 of his game-high 28 points in the first period, shooting 5-for-9 overall and 2-for-4 from long range. Rafferty paired eight points with five rebounds by the intermission.

The Gothic Knights quickly ran their lead to seven points, 50-43, at the 15:10 mark of the second half. New Jersey City led by a game-high nine points, 56-47, with 13:37 remaining.

However, the Blue & White sparked the rally with a 9-1 run over the next 1:30, trimming its deficit to just one point, 57-56, at the 11:45 mark.

NJCU reclaimed a six-point cushion, 68-62, with 6:54 left before the Cavaliers grabbed a lead they would never relinquish, 70-68, with 4:52 remaining following a Farrello trifecta that hit just about every part of the iron.

Farrello has now scored 1,224 career points, ranking seventh in program history at Cabrini. He is just the seventh player in the program's history to eclipse the 1,200-point barrier.

Cabrini twice led by as much as 10 points down the stretch. The Cavaliers shot 10-for-11 from the foul line over the final 2:10.

Josh Hosang led the Gothic Knights' offense with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Da'Shon Barrino and Keith Williams each finished with 11. NJCU was playing its 18th NCAA Tournament all-time and first since the 2003-04 season.

The win is Cabrini's first in the NCAA Tournament, and fifth overall, since a 47-43 win against William Paterson, also an NJAC opponent, on March 2, 2002. The contest marks the first NCAA Tournament game at Nerney Field House since the 2000-01 season.

The victory extends the Cavaliers' home win streak to 27 games since the start of the 2009-10 regular season. The Blue & White is now 14-0 at Nerney Field House in 2010-11.

The win is also the 70th in 87 career games at Cabrini for third-year head coach and three-time Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Coach of the Year Marcus Kahn. Kahn is now 43-2 all-time as a Cavaliers' head coach at Nerney Field House.

Cabrini (23-5) will host SUNY-Purchase in the second round of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow night at Nerney Field House at 7 p.m. Purchase advanced in tonight's first contest with a 79-69 win against Hartwick College.
