Gallaudet ends Penn St.-Abington's season with 87-69 win

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team moved one step closer to tying the program record for wins in a season as the visiting Bison won 87-69 over Penn St.-Abington on Thursday night in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game.

Gallaudet (15-8, 11-5 NEAC) had four players finish the game in double figures as the Bison swept the season series with the Nittany Lions. GU won 88-83 at home back on December 8. Penn St.-Abington concludes the season with a 3-22 overall record and a 2-16 mark in the conference. This was Gallaudet's last road game for the regular-season.

Sophomore forward Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) came off the bench to led the Buff and Blue with 19 points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Senior sharp shooter Luther Weedon (Walkersville, Md.) poured in 16 points off the bench thanks to 5-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. Junior guard Brandon McMillan (Frederick, Md.) chipped in 18 points while fellow junior guard Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) added 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) brought down a game-high 11 rebounds and added eight points and eight assists in the win.

William Alton's game-high 25 points and Corey Curtis' 13 points and nine rebounds paced the Nittany Lions.

There were several lead changes in the first half but things settled down for the Bison as they led 49-40 at the half.

GU shot 49.3 percent from the field for the game and made over 76 percent of its free throws. The Bison also held a 45-37 rebound advantage. Penn St.-Abington struggled from the field as it shot 25-of-79 (31.6 percent).

The Bison return home to close out the regular-season schedule with back-to-back games this weekend. Gallaudet will welcome Keuka College (5-15, 4-12) to campus on Saturday. February 19, for a 4 p.m. conference game. First-place Wells College (13-10, 12-4) will enter the Field House on Sunday, February 20, for a 2 p.m. conference game on Senior Day.
