WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team threw the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) standings for a loop on Saturday as the Bison took down first-place Penn St.-Harrisburg 68-64 before 316 fans at the Field House. The Bison win puts four teams within a game or less at the top of NEAC standings. Gallaudet (14-8, 10-5 NEAC) is one of the four teams at the top, as the conference regular-season will come down to its final week.

The Bison outscored the Nittany Lions (11-10, 11-4) in the second half by nine, 44-35. Gallaudet held a 14-point lead, 61-47, with five minutes to play in regulation. Penn St.-Harrisburg rallied back with a 17-5 run as it cut the Bison lead to two, 66-64, with 53 seconds left. The Bison closed out the win with two free-throws to ice the game.

Gallaudet's 14 wins are the first since the 2005-06 season when the Bison last had a winning record (14-12). The victory also assures the Bison of a winning record, the first under Coach Jeb Barber in his four seasons at the helm. GU has only had three winning seasons in the past 20 years before entering this season, the first for the Bison in the NEAC. The 10 conference wins are the most for the Bison in program history. GU's best year in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), in 20 seasons, was when the Bison went 7-7 in conference play during the 2005-06 season.

Junior forward Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) posted his first double-double in 13 games as he scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (11 on the defensive end of the court). He added four assists and two steals in the win. The Bison had three other players reach double figures including guards Brandon McMillan (Frederick, Md.) and Jocus Houston (Baton Rouge, La.), who scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. McMillan added six rebounds, four assists and two steals to his statistic's line. Sophomore forward Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) came off the bench to score 11 points and brought down nine rebounds.

Gallaudet shot 48.3 percent from the field (14-for-29) in the second half after it went into the locker room down five, 29-24, at halftime. The Bison also finished strong at the free-throw line as they made 14-of-18 shots (75 percent). GU did struggle behind the 3-point line as it only made 3-of-23 (13 percent), its lowest mark of the season.

The Bison defense swarmed the Nittany Lions in the second half as they made 11 turnovers. Gallaudet scored 22 points in the game off 24 Penn St.-Harrisburg turnovers. Gallaudet held a 49-35 rebound advantage and dominated the paint with a 38-16 margin. The Bison scored 19 second chance points and their bench outscored the Nittany Lions, 15-11.

Forward David Reisinger's 15 points and eight rebounds led Penn St.-Harrisburg. Three other Nittany Lions reached double figures including guard Jordan Gatchell (10 points, 12 rebounds, four assists), forward Kenton Alston (13 points) and guard Shane Woodman (11 points).

The Bison will next travel to Penn St.-Abington (2-21, 1-15) on Thursday, February 17, for a 7:30 p.m. road game.
