Hendrix shoots lights out in second half for 67-46 win over Dallas

CONWAY, Ark. (Feb. 8) -- Hendrix College shot a blistering 60.7 percent and outscored University of Dallas 24-10 in the paint during the second half to earn the season-series sweep with a 67-46 victory on Tuesday night at Grove Gymnasium.

The Warriors had four players score in double-figures and got key performances off the bench, outscoring the Crusaders 31-11. Hendrix finished the game with a 34-18 advantage down low.

The lead changed hands five times in the first half and Hendrix eventually took a 26-23 advantage at halftime. The Warriors shot 37.9 percent from the field and turned the ball over 13 times in the first half. Hendrix came out of the locker room with intensity and its offense started clicking as a 14-2 run gave the Warriors a commanding 40-27 advantage with 13:40 left in regulation.

Sophomore Jaren Riley snapped the 20-point margin on a 3-pointer with 5:28 to go, 59-39, and Hendrix eventually led by a game-high 21 points with 1:47 remaining.

Junior Chris Goodman was 4-of-6 from long distance and finished with a team-high 14 points. First year Colton Primm and junior Nick Heathscott added 12 points apiece, while junior Ammon Martin tallied 10 points. Primm scored all of his points in the second half and Heathscott poured in 10 points after the break. Riley and senior James Ewing dished out a team-best six assists. Sophomore Dayton Sheridan gave Hendrix key minutes off the bench early in the game and finished with six points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

First year Ross Davidson led the Crusaders with 18 points and eight rebounds. First year Braeton Hightower scored seven points and collected six assists, while senior Noah Pettit pulled down eight rebounds off the bench.

Hendrix completed the two-game series sweep and improves to 15-9 all-time against Dallas. The Warriors host Millsaps College on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. CT and Hendrix will take time to honor its four seniors prior to tip-off on Senior Day.
