The City College of New York men's basketball team (3-19 Overall, 1-9 CUNYAC) suffered a crucial defeat on Saturday evening, falling to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College (9-14 Overall, 3-8 CUNYAC) by a score of 68-60 on Alumni Day at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in Upper Manhattan.

In the victory for the Bloodhounds – who defeated the Beavers for the second time this season – it was Jerome Alexander scoring a game-high 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and a pair of assists. Additionally, it was Jamar Harry posting a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two steals, and Isaiah Holman contributed off of the bench with nine points and six rebounds in 29 minutes of action.

John Jay went into the half with a 31-20 lead and maintained that lead throughout the entire second session. The closest CCNY got was within a point – 48-47 – at the 6:00 mark, but John Jay would close the game out by outscoring the Beavers 20-13 and picking up a big conference win.

Despite the loss for the Beavers, it was Israel Vickers putting forth a nice all-around effort with a team-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals, and Matas Rascius added 11 points and seven rebounds as well.

Turnovers doomed City College on Saturday night, as the Beavers committed 27 miscues compared to a careful Bloodhound team that only made 16 mistakes on the evening. John Jay also drilled 11 triples, while CCNY made just four of their 20 attempts from beyond the arc. John Jay had 15 steals to City College's six.

CCNY will return to action on Monday evening as the Beavers will battle the Baruch College Bearcats in their final home game of the season. It will also be Senior Night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The City College of New York Athletic Department will honor seniors Vince Roberts, Brendan Barile, and Hector Hernandez.
