Beverly, Mass. – The Regis College men's basketball team opened up a double-digit lead late in the second half against Endicott and despite a late rally by the Gulls, the Pride was able to hold on for a 68-63 victory in TCCC action.

Regis (13-9, 6-3 TCCC) pushed their second half advantage to 11 points at 63-52 with just 5:03 remaining in regulation, but Endicott (14-7, 6-3 TCCC) mustered up some late offensive magic to cut the lead down to two points.  The Blue and Green went on 9-0 run thanks to four points and two steals by freshman Jordan Lewis (Windsor, Conn.) to make the score 63-61 in favor of the Pride with 1:47 on the clock.

A dunk by Regis center Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and clutch free throws by guard Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) halted Endicott's momentum and solidified a win for the visitors.  Edwards finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and a block while Chambers added eight points off the bench for the Pride.

The two teams played a back-and-forth game for the first eight minutes of the opening half as the lead was exchanged five times.  Regis ramped up their offense and Endicott got cold allowing the Pride to gain a 14-point lead.  Regis senior Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass.) led with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc, as the Pride settled on a 10-point halftime lead.  Neal had a game-high 16 points.

The Gulls were led by sophomore Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) who netted 10 of his team-high 14 points with an assist and a steal.  Erik Callo (Southington, Conn.) also added eight points, seven rebounds, a block and an assist.  Callo would finish the game with his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points, 12 boards, and four blocks.

In the second half, Gulls freshman Lachlan Magee (Melbourne, Australia) paced the offense with eight points and fellow first year guards Milan Drecun (Montenegro) added some spark off the bench a combined 13 points.  Regis, however, held on for the win with freshman Ahmad Charles (Cambridge, Mass.) leading with six points.

The Pride controlled points scored in the paint, outscoring the Gulls 36-16 and got significant contribution off the bench with 26 points compared to 18 points from Endicott.  Regis was also able to take advantage of 15 Endicott turnovers, converting those miscues into 20 points.

The loss snapped a four game conference win-streak for Endicott while Regis got their first win after back-to-back losses to TCCC opponents.

Endicott looks to rebound with another home against the University of New England on Tuesday, February 8th at 8:00 pm.  Regis hosts Western New England College on the same night at 7:30 pm.
