(Cresson, PA) – The Medaille men's basketball team faced Mt. Aloysius College in what started out as a basketball game and turned into a track meet.  The teams combined for (229) points in a back and forth affair.  The Mavs got a layup with seven seconds remaining in regulation by Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneeer) that knotted the game at (96-96).  The Mavs would outscore the Mounties (20-17) in overtime to hang on for a (116-113) victory.

Senior Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) put forth a tremendous all around effort as he led all scorers with (28) points, that is coming off a (22) point outing in a win over Hilbert on Wednesday.  Reed also pulled down (11) rebounds, dished out (6) assists, blocked a shot and swiped (4) steals.  He was (10 for 19) from the floor and (8 for 11) from the charity stripe.

Fellow seniors Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) (17 points – 13 rebounds) and Malicki (22 points – 9 rebounds) helped keep the Mavs rolling as they won their eighth straight game.  Coming off the bench to make a huge impact was junior Phil Maiarana (Kenmore, NY/St. Joseph's) as he poured in (17) points while assisting on three buckets as well.  Maiarana was (5 for 11) from the floor, including a pair of three pointers, while also connecting on (5 of 6) free throw attempts.

The Mavs extended the game to overtime when Malicki received an inbound pass in the post from Maiarana.  Two dribbles and a drop step later the Mavs had the game all square.  Malicki and Reed would dominant in extra time as they led the Mavs to a critical victory. Nine of Malicki's (22) points came in overtime while Reed tallied six points in extra time.

The Mavs improve to (17-5) overall and (13-2) in AMCC play.  They will have a week before they hit the hardwood again, as Penn State-Altoona will come to the Sullivan Center next Saturday (2/12) for another conference showdown.
