Mavs Cruise to 7th Straight Victory

(Hamburg, NY) – The Medaille College men's basketball team scored early and often as they tallied the games first seven points and cruised to an (83-54) victory over AMCC foe Hilbert College.  The Mavs swept the season series with the Hawks and they won their 7th straight game; as they stay in the hunt for a third straight AMCC title.

Senior Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) led the way for the Mavs as he was firing on all cylinders; connecting on (7 of 10) shots from the floor for a game high (19) points.  Reed also grabbed (4) boards, dished out (3) assists and swiped (2) steals.

The Maverick bench played a huge role in the victory as they outscored the Hawks reserves (33-16).  Junior David Shuey (Newfane, NY/Newfane) came off the bench to score (8) points on (3 of 5) shooting while Anthony Battaglia (Lancaster, NY/Depew) knocked down (2 of 3) shots from downtown in the win.

The battle of the boards went the way of Medaille as they outrebounded the Hawks (43-35).  Senior Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) grabbed a game high (10) boards to go along with (9) points, (2) assist and a blocked shot.

It is the Mavericks 8th straight win over the Hawks with their last loss against Hilbert coming on February, 17, 2007.  The win pushes Medaille to (16-5) overall and keeps them in the running for a regular season AMCC title as they currently have a (12-2) conference record.
