Choctaws Swat YellowJackets, 81-41

LONGVIEW, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team dominated a pesky LeTourneau University squad with an 81-41 win in Solheim Arena on Thursday night.

The Choctaws (9-9, 6-7 ASC) shot 56% (18-32) from the floor in the second half on their way to the 40-point win.  The victory was the largest margin of victory for the Choctaws and the largest margin of defeat for the YellowJackets (1-17, 0-13 ASC).

The Choctaws saw all 14 players get on the floor, and 13 players scored for MC.  Junior Chad Jones led MC with 14 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor.  Junior Greg Pulliam was the only other Choctaw in double-figures with 11 points.  Senior Ken Black and sophomore Cameron Bounds led the way with eight boards each.

The YellowJackets were led by Luke Taylor, Jr. and Jarrod Hudgens with nine points apiece.  Karsten Weingart led LeTourneau with seven rebounds in the game.

The Choctaws held LeTourneau to only 26% (16-61) from the floor and 23% (5-22) from the three-point line.  MC outscored the YellowJackets, 40-18, in the paint and scored 20 points off of turnovers.

MC will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Texas-Tyler to play at 3:00 p.m. in the Patriot Herrington Center.
