ONEONTA, N.Y.—Senior Derek Hahn (Youngsville, Sullivan West) registered his sixth double-double of the season in leading host SUNY Oneonta to a 67-61 win against rival SUNY Cortland in SUNYAC action this evening in front of over 2,000 fans that packed the Dewar Arena. Hahn scored 14 points and added a game high 15 boards as Oneonta snapped a mini three game skid to move to 6-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

This game appeared to be over early as Oneonta shot 56 percent in the first half en route to a commanding 43-24 lead. The host Red Dragons already had its lead to double digits by the 13-minute mark of the opening half. Senior Shane Gillette (Hurley, Kingston) scored 13 points in the first half to pace Oneonta. The 43 points for Oneonta was its largest output in the first half this season.

Cortland (5-11/2-7) made a game of it in the second half putting together an 18-2 run to begin the second half to cut the lead to 45-42 with 12:21 left to go. Oneonta went nearly eight minutes without scoring, which allowed Cortland to chip away at the lead.

Sophomores Jesse Winter and Harrison Hefele led the visitors, combining for 16 of the 18 points during the run. Winter finished as the top man for Cortland, scoring a game high 23 points. Hefele added 13 points including 11 in the second half.

A three-point basket at the 2:12 mark by Winter gave Cortland its first lead since 3-2 in the first half at 61-60. A lay up on the ensuing possession by Hahn gave the hosts its lead back for good as Oneonta made 5-of-6 free throws over the final 1:30 for the final margin of victory.

Joining Hahn and Gillette in double figures tonight was classmate Troy Talbot (Brooklyn, The School for Legal Studies), who scored a team high 17 points.

Oneonta will be at home again Friday night versus Plattsburgh beginning at 8:00 p.m.
