SPOKANE, Wash. -- Clay Gebbers drained six three-pointers, scored a career-high 20 points and sparked third-ranked Whitworth to a new school record for three-pointers in a game during Friday night's 94-48 win over visiting Pacific (Ore.) in a Northwest Conference men's basketball game.

The Pirates (17-0 overall, 8-0 NWC) made 19-34 (55.9%) from three-point range to surpass the previous school record of 18 made in a win over Whittier earlier this season.

Pacific (3-13 overall, 2-5 NWC) took the early initiative as LaMar Anglin made a pair of baskets to give the Boxers an 8-3 lead, forcing a Whitworth timeout. But the Pirates outscored Pacific 28-3 over the next 11 minutes to establish control of the game. Gebbers hit two threes and scored the Pirates' first eight points of the run. Another Gebbers three-pointer established Whitworth's largest lead of the half at 38-15 with 3:16 to play.

Gebbers' sixth three of the game gave the Pirates a 61-30 lead just over six minutes into the second half. Whitworth steadily stretched the lead from that point.

Six different Whitworth players made three-point baskets. Jack Loofburrow joined Gebbers with six and finished with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds. David Riley also scored 20 points and grabbed nine boards. Michael Taylor (Brewster) had 10 points and dished five assists.

Whitworth shot better from beyond the arc than it did in overall field goal percentage (33-65 - 50.8%). The Pirates outrebounded the Boxers 45-29.

Colin Wester led Pacific with 15 points, while Anglin finished with 10 points. Andy Haugen came off of the bench to grab eight rebounds in only 12 minutes of play.

Whitworth has completed the first half of Northwest Conference play in sole possession of first place. Pacific will complete its Eastern Washington road trip with a game at Whitman on Saturday night.
