Baker Shines in Blowout Win

LANCASTER, Pa. – Two days after setting a season-high in points, Mike Baker reset his season best with 22 points in No. 14 Franklin & Marshall's 85-46 win over Swarthmore Saturday in a Centennial Conference (CC) game.  The Diplomats remain unbeaten in the conference at 5-0 and 10-2 overall. The Garnet fell to 1-4 CC and 4-8 overall.

F&M opened the contest with seven unanswered points in the three minutes of the game. Swarthmore got as close as three points, 9-6, before the Diplomats exploded on a 20-4 run to lead 29-10 with 8:06 left in the half. F&M took a 46-24 lead into the locker room. Baker scored 16 points in the first half and James McNally added 12.

The second half was much of the same for the Diplomats as they ran their lead to 32 points, 64-32, at the 12:34 mark and finished the game with a 39-point margin.

F&M scored 27 points off of Swarthmore turnovers and received 20 points from its bench. Baker added a game-high nine boards while McNally finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Steve Tolliver and Hayk Gyokchyan each scored 14 points for F&M.

Jay Kober netted 15 points to pace the Garnet and Will Gates added 12.

The Diplomats return to action Tuesday at McDaniel in a Centennial Conference clash at 8 p.m.
