(Steubenville, OH) – When the halftime buzzer sounded it looked as though the Medaille men's basketball team would cruise to an easy conference road win as they held a (41-17) advantage over Franciscan University.  The second half would be a different story as the Mavs were outscored by twenty but were able to hang on for a (75-71) victory, despite the ferocious comeback effort by the Barons.

The Maverick bench would play a critical role in their third straight win as they outscored their counterparts (22-4) with sophomore Tyler Stevens (Depew, NY/Depew) leading that crew with (11) points, including a (3 of 6) performance from behind the arc.

Senior Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneer) paced the Mavs with (20) points on (6 of 11) shooting from the floor, he also knocked down (8 of 10) from the charity stripe.

Fellow senior Ricky Reed (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) tallied ten points and is now just nine points shy of becoming the seventh player in program history to reach the (1,000) point mark for his career, he currently has (991) points.

The Mavs shot lights out in this contest as they were (53.8%) overall from the floor (65.4% in the first half) and (46.2%) from behind the arc while holding the Barons to (40.6%) shooting from the field.  The home team held an early five point edge but never led again as the Mavs quickly erased that advantage en route to building a huge lead that could not be overcome by Franciscan.

The victory pushes Medaille to (5-3) overall and it improves their AMCC record to (3-1).  All three conference wins have come consecutively on the road.  They will host non-conference foe Clarkson University on Monday (12/13) at 6:00pm in the Sullivan Center.
