Strong Second Half Propels Oswego State Men's Basketball Past RIT 79-61

The Oswego State men's basketball team outscored Rochester Institute of Technology, 46-27, in the second half Tuesday night to earn a 79-61 victory in Rochester. The Lakers shot 57 percent from the field and held their opponents to 33 percent shooting in the contest.  With the win, Oswego State moved to 5-1 on the season. The loss dropped RIT to 1-4 overall.

At halftime, the Tigers led the Lakers 34-33. With 15 minutes left in the second half, Oswego State went on a 12-3 run with seven points from Conor Monaghan and five from Ryan Sheridan, giving the Lakers a 13-point lead. The Tigers kept the game close and whittled the lead down to 70-61 with two minutes remaining after a Marcus Lowe lay-up, but never pulled any closer as Oswego State closed the game on a 9-0 run to secure the win.  

Monaghan finished the game with 19 points and five rebounds to pace the Lakers. Sheridan tacked on nine points, six boards and three steals.  Brendan Harder led RIT with 19 points and nine rebounds. Anthony Terry chipped in 18 points, hitting four three-pointers.

Also scoring in double-digits for the Oswego State was Chad Burridge and Jose Uribe with 17 and 11 points, respectively. Oswego State ou-trebounded its counterpart, 39-33, only allowing the TIgers to grab one rebound in the game's final two minutes.

The Lakers have a ten-day break before returning home to face Morrisville State College at Max Ziel Gymnasium on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the semester finale.
