Worcester, Mass. – Lance Greene (Dorcester, Mass.) scored a season-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor, but it was not enough as the men's basketball team dropped a road game to Clark University 64-59 on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls lost back-to-back games for the first time this season and fell to 3-3 on the year.  The Cougars improved to 4-4.

Endicott held the lead only twice, both times very early in the first half, as Clark would maintain their lead for the majority of the game.  The Cougars stretched their lead to as large as nine points in the second half.

Clark's junior forward Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, Mass.) scored a game-high 24 points, hitting 6-of-12 shot attempts and a near perfect 12-of-13 from the free throw line.  Vayda completed the double-double with 12 rebounds, four on the offensive glass, and also had two assists and two steals.

Two other Cougars were in double-figures as Travis Curley (Trumbull, Conn.) and Mitch Renshaw (Rutland, Mass.) chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Despite shooting a higher percentage from the floor in the first half (44.4%) than their opponent (25.0%), the Gulls managed to score just 19 points in the opening stanza.  Both teams struggled with turnovers with each squad committing double digit mistakes.  The Cougars took a slim two-point lead into halftime at 21-19 with both teams looking to get things going offensively.

In the second half, Greene netted 13 of his 17 points and Gulls freshman Bennett Knowlton (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added eight points to keep the visitors in the game.  Clark, however, got the free throw line often and converted their opportunities 18-of-21 times.

The Blue and Green trimmed the Clark lead down to four points with just 53 seconds remaining following a Chris Galbraith (Queensbury, N.Y.) layup, but the Cougars held on for the victory.  Galbraith, the only other Endicott player with double-digit points, finished with 10 points in 18 minutes off the bench.  Lachlan Magee (Melbourne, Australia) contributed with nine points, three assists, and a steal in 30 minutes on the court.

Clark had a 34-28 rebounding advantage and compiled 20 second chance points.  The Gulls outscored the Cougars 28-20 in the paint and got 19 points from their bench, compared to just 12 from Clark.

Endicott next plays UMaine Augusta on Monday, December 6 at 7:00 pm in MacDonald Gymnasium.
