HASSAN LEADS RAMAPO OVER VALIANTS, 83-74

Purchase, NY: The Ramapo College men's basketball team snapped the Valiants of Manhattanville College three game win streak with a 83-74 road win. The Roadrunners improve to 4-0 while the Valiants now stand at 3-1 overall.

Ahmad Hassan tallied 25 points to lead Ramapo in the win as he hit 8-12 from the field and 7-10 from the foul line while grabbing five rebounds and four steals. Stephon Treadwell and Travis Conyers each contributed 11 points while Treadwell grabbed five rebonds and Conyers added four assists, two steals and three rebounds. LaQuan Peterkin tallied ten points and five rebounds and two blocks while Garret Thiel chipped in nine points of his own and seven rebounds. Elgin Brown grabbed a team high nine rebounds while adding eight points, two steals and one block.

The Roarunners shot 45% from the field (28-62) while they shot 75% from the foul line (25-33).

Manhattanville took a four point lead (8-4) before Hassan drained a three pointer to cut the lead to one with 17:12 to go in the first half. The Roadrunners took the lead for good during the first half with a second made three pointer by Hassan at 12:55 as Ramapo went on a 14-0 run capped off by a made foul shot by Brown with 7:35 on the clock. The Valiants were able to cut the lead to four with 3:01 to go before back to back layups by Hassan and Treadwell got the Roadrunners back to a 34-26 lead with 2:02 remaining before Manhattanville made one foul shot to close the lead to seven at half-time, 34-27.

The Valiants shrunk the lead to one six times during the second half before taking a one point lead, 50-49 with 11:30 to go in the game before Ramapo would go on a 13-4 run to take a 63-53. They took a 15-point lead on a made jumper by Conyers with 6:20 remaining in the game before the Valiants cut the lead to seven, 80-73 on a three-point foul shot by Felipe Vargas with 23 seconds remaining before the Roadrunners were able to convert three out of four foul shots in the final seconds to come away with a 83-74 victory.

The Roadrunners open NJAC conference play on Tuesday, November 30th as they host Rowan University at 7:00 PM.
