Meadville, PA - Damian Founds (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) scored a career high 15 points and David Palmer (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse) netted 17 points including the game winning lay-up with six seconds to go, giving the Bobcats a thrilling 62-60 win over Fredonia State Sunday afternoon.  The victory, the Bobcats second of the year capped the second day of the Allegheny College Invitational.

After trailing early on in the contest Pitt-Greensburg would open seven point half time lead led by Cameron Hubbard (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro), Founds and Palmer who all had nine points at the break.

The Bobcats would open their largest margin of the contest to ten when Palmer connected on a lay-up with 16 minutes remaining.  However, Fredonia St. fought back and take the lead on Kevin Mitchell's 3-pointer.

At the 3:22 mark UPG would take back the lead when Larry Bigante (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) connected on a 3-pointer to give Pitt-Greensburg a 60-58 advantage.   "We basically went with our seniors in the line-up for the last five minutes." said head coach Sean Strickland "You have to be able to count on seniors late in a game, and Larry's 3-pointer ended up being a big shot for us."

A foul shot by Fredonia State's Kevin Mitchell tied the game at 60-60 with exactly two minutes to play.  The game would remain tied until Pitt-Greensburg took advantage of a Fredonia St. turnover with just 24 seconds to play.  Palmer was able to power a lay-up through the defense to give UPG a 62-60 lead with just six seconds to play.

"With Fredonia St. being in the double bonus we felt our best option was not calling a time-out and just running a set that attacked the basket.  David (Palmer) and Damian (Founds) ran the set to perfection and we got the best shot we could ask for."

Fredonia State's last second shot bounced off the rim securing the victory for the Bobcats.  "It wasn't a pretty win, but a win is a win." added Strickland  "It's definitely a good learning experience for us because we were in the same situation back to back games, with basically a tie game with five minutes left on the clock.  This tournament ended up being a great experience for our program and one that should help us as we get into conference battles in January and February."

David Palmer was placed on the invitational's all-tournament team.
