Shenandoah Rallies Over PSU-Altoona

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Seniors Mitch Dudley and Brandon Bryan combined for 55 points Saturday afternoon to lead Shenandoah to an 82-67 victory over Penn St. - Altoona in the consolation game of the 2010 Days Inn Gettysburg Tip-off Tournament.

Playing its first non-top 5 opponent of the 2010-11 season, Shenandoah (1-2) received a career-highs in points from both Dudley, 29, and Bryan, 26, in the victory over PSU-A (0-3).

Bryan had 20 of his points and Dudley 16 after the break as SU erased a two-point halftime deficit.

The Lions actually led by as many as seven points, 42-35, before the Hornets began their comeback with a 9-2 run from the 17:07 to 13:54 marks of the second.

PSU-A was able to tie the contest at both 46-46 and 48-48 before Shenandoah finally took the lead for good on a pair of Bryan free throws with 11:43 remaining.

These two foul shots, two of seven that Bryan hit on the afternoon, started a 23-4 run that effectively ended the contest.

Bryan and Dudley combined for 21 of the 23 points during this spurt - only Morgan Winn's layup with 6:43 left broke up the duo's streak.

Penn St. - Altoona got no closer than 13 points the rest of the way as SU iced the ball in the final five minutes.

Dudley and Bryan were the only two SU players in double-figures.

Kyle Banfield paced the Lions with 16 points. PSU-A also held a 37-34 advantage on the boards.

Following the tournament, which was won by Randolph-Macon, Dudley was named to the All-Tournament team. He averaged 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two contests.

Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday against future ODAC foe Randolph. Game time is 7 p.m.
