Swarthmore, Pa. – Haverford sophomore guard Cam Baker scored a game-high 21 points and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Fords to a 63-59 win over Clark University in the opening game of the second day at the Equinox Classic on the campus of Swarthmore College Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Haverford, picks up their first win of the season to improve to 1-2, while the Cougars have lost three consecutive games following their season-opening win last Monday.

In both of their games at the Equinox Classic, Clark opponents shot above 50 percent and Saturday's game was no different. The Fords connected on 54 percent of their shots, including 63 percent in the first half (14-for-22).

Haverford opened the game on an 11-4 run but the Cougars responded to take a brief lead at 19-17 on a three-pointer from Tucker Esborn (Branford, Conn.).

That lead lasted for less than a minute as the Fords embarked on a 14-2 run over the next eight minutes and the Cougars went 1-for-11 during that span and then went into halftime down, 33-28.

Haverford open the second half by scoring the first five points and never looked back as Baker scored 13 of his points in the final 20 minutes and the Fords defense stiffened up, forcing nine second half Clark turnovers and a 2-for-9 performance from behind the arc.

Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, Mass.) led the Cougar attack with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Esborn scored all 10 of his points in the first half. Mitch Renshaw (Rutland, Mass.) and Travis Curley (Trumbull, Conn.) each added eight points and D.J. Bailey (Palmer, Mass.) chipped in six points and five rebounds in 15 minutes.

Clark will look to return to the win column on Tuesday when they visit Anna Maria for a 5:00 p.m. start.
