Nebraska Wesleyan University announced that women's head basketball coach Britni Mueller has stepped down from her position after four seasons to spend more time with her family.

"It is going to be very difficult to say goodbye to Nebraska Wesleyan and this women's basketball team but I believe this is the best decision for myself and my family," Mueller remarked in a team release.  "In my four years at NWU we have built a program I believe will be a true contender in the IIAC in the coming years and I am thankful I had this opportunity."

Mueller became the Prairie Wolves' head coach after Eric Jensen stepped down in February 2013. Nebraska Wesleyan improved from 4-21 in 2015-16, which was the team's third under Mueller, to 13-13 last season. That was the Prairie Wolves' first non-losing campaign since the team went 15-10 in 2000-01. Nebraska Wesleyan qualified for the IIAC playoffs where the Prairie Wolves lost to Loras 79-61 in the first round. The game was the program's first appearance in a conference postseason tournament.

A graduate of Division II University of Sioux Falls, Mueller went 21-80 in four seasons. A search for her replacement will begin immediately.
