Lasell is mourning the loss of senior Sean Bertanza, who died in his sleep on Dec. 20 at his home in Seymour, Conn.

Bertanza made headlines in February 2011 when he scored 55 points in a game against St. Joseph's (Maine). He averaged 20.6 points per game this season, leading the Lasers.

He left his mark "with his exploits on the basketball court, but will be remembered even more fondly for his role as a loyal and caring individual to everyone he came into contact with in the campus community," the department website said.

He scored 1,162 career points at Lasell, after playing the first semester of his career at Wentworth and the second at Albertus Magnus, adding another 58 points.
