Senior forward Austin Meier has been named Capital One Men’s Basketball College Division Academic All-America of the Year. Meier is an architectural engineering and construction management major and holds a GPA of 3.93. The award is selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom. The College Division includes all colleges and universities that are NCAA Division II, Division III or NAIA institutions. Last season, Meier was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.

Meier leads the Raiders in scoring (17.3 points per game), rebounding (10.7 per game), field goals (154), field-goal percentage (.530), free throws made (107), blocks (16) and steals (82). Meier has been named First Team All-NAC the previous two seasons and was selected as NAC Rookie of the Year during his freshman campaign. Also, Meier is the all-time leader in NAC history in scoring, field goals, free throws made, rebounds and steals. He holds the MSOE career record for rebounds with 873. Meier passed Brian Geurts’ mark of 866 rebounds during the team’s last game.

MSOE is currently 19-7 and set the school record for wins last Saturday as they defeated Edgewood 64-53 in the NAC Challenge, which gave the Raiders the three seed in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.
