Framingham State enters the 2023 D3hoops.com Classic with an unbeaten record, and that record continued unblemished on Wednesday as the Rams defeated Westminster (Mo.) 71-48. The Blue Jays (4-6) hung with Framingham into the third quarter, including an 8-0 run to keep the game close. But Framingham (11-0) scored the last six points of the third and extended that to a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter to put Westminster away.

Flannery O'Connor survived a second-quarter scare where she left the game for the rest of the half, then came out for the second and made an immediate impact with two buckets and a steal. She finished with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while Kelsey Yelle added 10 points and 10 boards.

But it was Gwendolyn Carpenter who put her name in the record book, breaking a mark which had stood for a decade. Carpenter finished with a game-high eight assists for the Rams. She also scored 12 points and had a game-high four steals.

Framingham State returns to action on Friday against No. 10 Trinity (Texas), while Westminster (Mo.) will play Occidental on Friday. Meanwhile, Thursday features six games at the D3hoops.com Classic.
