Griffin Sinks Five 3-Pointers in Knights Win at Paul Smiths

Paul Smiths, NY - Sophomore Fallon Griffin scored a game-high 22 points in just 24 minutes to help lead the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team to a 71-59 win over Paul Smith's College on Monday evening.

The Golden Knights improved to 1-2 on the season and head to Vermont on Wednesday to take on VSU-Lyndon in non-league action.

The Golden Knights struggled a bit with ball control in the early going as the Bobcats used constant pressure and jumped passing lanes, but the Green and Gold started sinking shots from the perimeter to take the lead, one that they would never relinquish. At the start of the second period, the Knights kept their offensive push going, starting off with a 10-0 run which was capped by 3-pointers from Griffin and Cassidy Dumont. The Clarkson offense continued to make shots from the outside, finishing the quarter by going 5-for-9 from the 3-point line for a 23-point period.

Although the third quarter was quiet for both sides compared to the opening half, Clarkson got key baskets in the fourth when it was necessary. Bella Doyle sunk a pair of 3-pointers from the top of the key to give the Knights a 19-point edge with a little over six minutes remaining. A few moments later, Doyle got an offensive rebound off a free throw and found Addie Kea for a jumper to make sure that Clarkson maintained its mid-teens lead with just four minutes to go.

Griffin finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knights, while Doyle added 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 4 steals. Emma Chambers also blocked three shots and grabbed 14 rebounds and Raelin Burns chipped in 10 points.

For Paul Smith's, Jordan Louis scored 21 points while adding five steals and dishing out six assists. Holly Bagley contributed 17 points, also adding five steals for the Bobcats.
