In a lively game that included 13 ties and 12 lead changes. sophomore guard Ellie Wolkow was a hero as No. 17-ranked Tommie Women's Basketball held off No. 23-ranked Gustavus, 68-67, in conference play Saturday in St. Peter.

Wolkow's long two-point jumper with 1:22 left put the Tommies back on top, 68-67. Her blocked shot with five seconds left led to a scramble as the clock ran down, and Gustavus missed a desperation jumper as time expired. The Tommie defense denied GAC on three possessions in the final minute helping force two turnovers and three missed Gustie shots.

The road win for St. Thomas (15-4 overall, 11-3 MIAC) let it move into sole possession of third place in the MIAC race with six games left in the regular-season. The Toms are behind first-place Bethel and stay one game behind second-place Augsburg, an overtime winner at Carleton.

Macy Hatlestad led a balanced Tommie attack with 15 points, six boards and four assists. Amber Darge scored 13 points, Brynne Rolland added 10 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes before fouling out. Shayla Wallin added eight points and six boards, and Allie Spaulding closed with seven points and three rebounds.

The Tommies outscored Gustavus 33-15 from 3-point range to offset the host team's 16-7 edge in free-throw scoring. 

Paige Richert scored a game-high 22 points for Gustavue.

St. Thomas plays another likely MIAC playoff team Wednesday night when it plays at Hamline.
