Benedictine Women Open Two-Game Conference Lead

MADISON, WI - The Benedictine University women's basketball team logged a road win at Edgewood College to open a two-game lead in the NACC standings.

Allison Michalski opened the game with a three-pointer, but Edgewood led by as many as nine points in the opening quarter at 17-8
Claire Gibler scored seven straight to end the quarter as Benedictine pulled within 17-15 after one
Hanna Piro tied the game with a transition jumper early in the second quarter but the hosts grabbed the lead again and held the edge for the entire quarter
Alex Fanning knocked down a three-pointer early in the third as part of a 7-0 run that saw Benedictine take the lead
Edgewood cut the ead to a single point on several occasions, but Fanning scored all eight points in a run that extended the lead to 60-50 midway through the fourth
The hosts pulled within four points with just over two minutes remaining, but Benedictine made seven free throws to nab the key victory
