Rochester Turned 21 Offensive Rebounds into 25 Points vs RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -The University of Rochester women's basketball team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night with a dominating performance over RIT, 81-53.

Rochester placed three players in double figures, held a commanding edge on the backboards, recorded 10 steals, and blocked eight shots. The Yellowjackets are 6-5 overall. . UR opens the University Athletic Association season on Saturday at Emory University.

Julianna Okoniewski registered a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She made four steals and blocked two shots. Hannah Lindemuth scored 17 points, including three three-pointers. Alexis Sestric scored 11 points.

Kaleesha Joseph of RIT took game scoring honors with 21 points. She collected 11 rebounds and blocked three shots in 25 minutes. The Tigers (3-6) did not have another double figure scorer.

Seven players registered steals, four had blocks. UR spread the ball around. Lindemuth, Tessa Ludwick, and Gillian Mair had three assists each.  Rochester grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and turned it into 25 second-chance points. Shannon Loiseau had eight points, six boards, and four blocks. 

In the first quarter, Sestric hit a trey and Mair followed with a layup. That put UR up, 16-11, through the first 10 minutes. Midway through the second, Lauren Foley sank a three-pointer, then assisted on a jumper by Okoniewski for a 25-17 lead. Foley hit her second three-pointer of the period later to make the lead 10 (34-24). Sarah Henretta sank two free throws in the last 40 seconds before Ludwick's three-pointer (she finished with nine points) put the lead at 11, 37-26, heading into the locker room.
