DECATUR, Ga. -- The Bates women's basketball team's bench outscored Agnes Scott's bench 39-0 and the Bobcats ran away with a 70-36 win over the Scotties Saturday afternoon. 

Three players finished in double figures scoring for Bates (6-5), led by sophomore Ariana Dalia (Brick, N.J.), who tallied a game-high 13 points on 5-7 shooting. Dalia recorded four assists, a game-high six steals and two blocked shots. Off the bench, sophomore Grace Hoehl (South Burlington, Vt.) scored a career-high 11 points and first-year Brianna Gadaleta (Chappaqua, N.Y.) matched her career-high with 10 points on 4-7 shooting. Gadaleta also grabbed a team-high five rebounds. 

The Scotties (0-12) turned the ball over 38 times and the Bobcats scored 37 points off turnovers. Bates recorded 21 steals, the program's most in one game against an NCAA Division III opponent since 2010. All 12 players who saw action for the Bobcats scored at least one point in the victory.

Bates fell behind 4-0 in the first quarter before senior captain Melanie Binkhorst (West Hartford, Conn.) hit back-to-back jumpers, tying the game at four. Binkhorst finished with eight points on 4-5 shooting to go along with two rebounds and four assists. Dalia's layup with 7:16 left in the quarter put the Bobcats ahead for good. Another Dalia layup with 2:31 remaining capped off the 12-0 run. The Scotties answered with a Kamiyla Lane layup and a Garis Grant jumper, cutting the Bates lead to 12-8 before Hoehl split a pair of free throws, ending the first quarter with the Bobcats up 13-8.

Agnes Scott hung in the game for most of the second quarter, making the score 20-15 in favor of Bates on an Annie Weimerskirch three with 3:56 left in the half. Then the Bobcats took control of the game with an 11-0 run, starting with a Binkhorst layup. Junior captain Julia Middlebrook (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored four of her seven points during the run, hitting a jumper with 25 seconds left to extend the lead to 31-15. Middlebrook shot 3-5 from the floor on the afternoon and finished with three assists and four steals.

Up by 16 at halftime, the Bobcats turned in their best quarter of the day out of the halftime break. Bates outscored Agnes Scott 23-8 in the third quarter, putting the game completely out of reach. Gadaleta scored six of her 10 points in the quarter. 

The Scotties only went seven players deep, with four players scoring points. Weimerskirch and Grant paced Agnes Scott with 11 points each. Lane finished with 10 points on 5-7 shooting. 

Bates shot 44.3% from the floor and held Agnes Scott to 33.3% shooting. The Bobcats successfully pushed the pace, scoring 20 fastbreak points to the Scotties' zero transition buckets.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Norwich for a 3pm tip.
