Baruch Runs Past Purchase (77-46)

Four different players scored in double-figures to help the Baruch College Bearcats defeat the Panthers of SUNY Purchase, 77-46, in a non-conference home contest on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats trailed after five minutes (11-3) as the visiting Panthers started strong, but the Bearcats slowly chipped away at the deficit to finish tied 16-16 after the first quarter.

They outscored the Panthers 20-8 in the second quarter and that set the tone for the rest of the contest.

The Bearcats used solid defense to keep the visiting Panthers to only 29 percent (17-for-58) and forced 24 turnovers. Offensively, they shot 45% (29-for-64), which included 17-for-32 (53%) in the second half.

Nia Dawson scored 14 of her 21 points in the second half, while also contributing seven rebounds and two steals.

Melinda Spahiu (19pts, 5assts, 3stls), Frances Snyder (season-high 17pts), and Daniela Zirpolo (12pts, 12rbs, 4 assts) all had a big night.

Shadai Plowden led the visitors with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
