Richardson, Texas – Rhodes College women's basketball concluded their 2018-19 season in the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The Lynx fell to No. 11/12-ranked University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (UMHB) in the first round 70-56.
 
Rhodes out-scored the Crusaders 16-13 in the first period while full-court pressure allowed the Lynx to hold an upper hand in the fourth period as well (24-18). Ultimately UMHB took advantage of the Lynx in the second period (26-7) after Rhodes committed seven turnovers and six fouls.
 
The Lynx jumped out to a 16-8 lead over UMHB after scoring the first five points of the contest. After two and a half minutes without either team scoring, UMHB closed the first quarter with five unanswered points, on their way to a 27-7 run which included seven three-pointers. The Crus led 39-23 at halftime after Rhodes committed 12 turnovers and 11 fouls in the first half. Three starters for the Lynx including Alyssa Owens, Lindsey Whiteside, and Allie Young all tallied two personal fouls in the first half, limiting their time on the court to an average of nine minutes before the break.
 
The Lynx opened the second half with six straight points. With three fouls, Whiteside drew two charges on back-to-back possessions for the Cru, forcing UMHB to call a timeout. The score remained 41-29 for nearly three minutes until UMHB connected on two free throws to begin a nine-point run. During the third period, Rhodes missed nine consecutive shot attempts until Whiteside sank a trey with 12 seconds left in the period. UMHB answered with a trey of their own as time expired to take a 20-point lead headed into the final 10 minutes of play.
 
Whiteside drained the first bucket of the fourth period, netting her second trey in a row. Young then converted her second three-point play of the game before Owens stole the ball and also converted a three-point play after getting fouled on her made layup. After a UMHB three-pointer, the Lynx were energized when Owens poked the ball away as Whiteside picked it up and lobbed it down court for Owens to sink in the fast-break layup. After a Rhodes timeout, Young laid in a reverse layup and after two free throws from Alli Mayeux, the Lynx cut UMHB's lead to 11 with 5:50 to play. An 8-2 run allowed the Crusaders to pull away and lead 66-49, carrying momentum to the final buzzer.
 
Young led the game with 17 points and eight rebounds, followed by Whiteside with 15 points, Owens with 11 points and Mayeux with seven rebounds. Moriah Muhammad helped the Lynx on the boards as well, totaling six rebounds.
 
UMHB sank 11-of-25 buckets from long range (44%) as both teams averaged 36.4% from the floor overall. The Cru finished the game with a 43-37 rebounding advantage as the Lynx posted 17 turnovers to UMHB's 12.
 
Rhodes will lose Moriah Muhammad, Danielle Summers and Allie Young to graduation. Young narrowly missed joining Rhodes' 1,000 points club, totaling 991 career points.
 
On the season, Rhodes went 17-12, taking the Lynx to their fourth NCAA Tournament and first appearance since 2015, and tallying their highest win percentage and number of wins in a season since that same year.
