Case Western Reserve University senior forward Hillary Hellmann and graduate student forward Kara Hageman were each named to the All-University Athletic Association First Team, following their outstanding play during the 2018-19 campaign for the Spartans.

Hellmann secured her first career All-UAA First Team selection, after claiming a place on the second team each of the previous two seasons.  It was the fourth career All-UAA selection for Hageman, and the second time over her career that she has earned a spot on the all-association first team.  She had been selected as an honorable mention to the All-UAA team as a freshman and sophomore.

It also marked the first time that two Spartans have been named to the all-conference first team since the 2009-10 campaign, when Erin Hollinger and Ashleigh Tondo each claimed a spot on the All-UAA First Team, and the third time overall in the program's history.

Hellmann became the first Spartan player since Evy Iacono in 2012-13 to lead the UAA in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game during the year, the 66^th-highest mark among all Division III players.  She started all 25 games for CWRU, shooting 42.2% overall and 31.4% on three-point attempts.  She was also third among UAA players with 8.5 rebounds per game, and finished the year with 10 double-doubles, including five in league play.  Her 1.0 blocks per game was the seventh-best mark in the UAA during the campaign.  Hellmann was named the UAA Athlete of the Week twice during the season, including after she scored a season-high 30 points and collected 13 rebounds against Eastern on December 20^th.

Hellmann played in 99 games over her career, including 90 in a starting role, and finished her time at CWRU second in program history with 1,593 points, while her 220 made three-pointers are a program record.

After missing the entire 2017-18 season due to injury, Hageman returned in dominant fashion this season.  She was fifth among UAA players during the season with 15.6 points per game, and ranked second among league players with 9.9 rebounds per game, just a tenth of a rebound shy of the best mark in the UAA during the season.  Hageman's 11 double-doubles during the year (eight of which came in conference games) were the most among UAA players during the year.  She started all 25 games for CWRU, shooting 44.6% overall and 31.1% from three-point range, while also leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference with 1.4 blocks per game, to go along with a team-best 1.4 steals per contest.  In addition, she was second on the team and 10^th in the conference with 2.4 assists per game.  Hageman was twice named the UAA Athlete of the Week, including this past week, after recording season-highs with 22 points and five assists, and a career-high 16 rebounds.

Hageman became the fourth player in program history to score over 1,400 points during a CWRU career, and her 1,425 points were the third-highest mark ever by a Spartan.

The Spartans finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 15-10 overall record, the team's best record since the 2012-13 season.  It was the sixth time in program history that CWRU has won 15 or more games in a year, and the third time under Head Coach Jennifer Reimer.  The Spartans were 7-7 in conference play and fourth in the league standings, the team's best finish and record in UAA play since the 2012-13 campaign.
