Decatur, Ill. - After travel issues forced the postponement of Wednesday's game, the Thunder women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season on Thursday night with an 83-56 rout of Millikin University. Ranked 21st in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25, Wheaton will head into next week's CCIW Tournament riding an eight-game winning streak and holding a record of 21-4 overall and 15-1 in the CCIW. Millikin is still alive for the sixth and final spot in the CCIW Tournament despite falling to 8-16 overall and 4-11 in the CCIW.

Wheaton posted season highs in field goal shooting at 60.4% (32-53) and three-point shooting at 50% (8-16). Millikin finished the game shooting 32.4% (22-68) from the field and 26.3% (5-19) from the three-point line. The Big Blue hit seven of 14 free throw attempts and Wheaton made 11-of-16 (68.8%) of its charity tosses.

Despite a competitive opening five minutes, Wheaton used an 11-3 run over the final 4:39 of the quarter to take a 19-9 lead when Jill Berg beat the buzzer to end the first quarter. Another Berg jumper started the second quarter to push the lead to 12 points.

Leading 25-16 with seven minutes left in the half following a Hannah Frazier lay-up, Millikin embarked on a 13-4 run over the next four minutes to tie the game at 29 on Jordan Hildebrand's lay-up. Wheaton responded with lay-ups from Jordan Myorth and Frazier before a Devin Kyler three-pointer capped a 7-0 Thunder run. Millikin was able to shrink the deficit at halftime to 38-35 on a Yanni Saddler lay-up in the final seconds of the half.

Wheaton opened the second half with six unanswered points to push the lead back to nine points when Aubrey Magro finally gave the Big Blue their first points of the third quarter just shy of two and a half minutes into the second half. Consecutive three-pointers by Kirsten Madsen and Hannah Williams quickly pushed the Wheaton lead back into double figures at 52-39 with 5:59 left in the third quarter. Wheaton was able to hold the Big Blue without a field goal for the final 3:56 of the quarter as the Thunder built a 63-46 lead following a 25-11 third quarter scoring advantage.

Wheaton continued its strong defense to start the fourth quarter, holding the Big Blue scoreless for nearly four minutes while pushing the lead to 69-46 on a Hannah Frazier lay-up. Wheaton would push the lead to as many as 27 points on a last minute lay-up by Jacqueline San Jule and again on a three-point play by Bonnie Zeller that set the final score at 83-56.

Hannah Frazier led five Wheaton players in double figures with 22 points. Kirsten Madsen tallied a career-high 11 points and was joined at 11 points by Hannah Williams and Devin Kyler. Jordan Myroth finished a strong all-around game with 10 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Aubrey Staton and Briana Anthony led the Big Blue with 13 points apiece.

Wheaton will next be in action on Friday, February 22nd, when the Thunder take the floor in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament at King Arena.
