DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Corsair senior forward Nakira Examond (New Bedford, Mass.) generated a game-high 23 points, including 12 straight in solo fashion in the third quarter, to power UMass Dartmouth to a 95-49 victory over Keene State College at the Tripp Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Joining Examond in double-figure scoring were freshmen Jordan Moretti (Johnston, R.I.) with 13, Shaelyn Carreiro (Fall River, Mass.) with 12, and senior Jess Korzec (West Brookfield, Mass.) with 10.

How It Happened

• UMass Dartmouth shot it at an efficient 66.7% (12-18) in the opening quarter, getting eight from Korzec. With 43 seconds remaining in the frame, the guard stole a pass at the Owl three-point line and raced down court for the unchallenged layup to notch her 1,000^th career collegiate point overall.
• The Blue and Gold bridged the first and second stanzas with an 11-0 run to expand the difference to 17 (32-15), with five different Corsairs chipping in during the span.
• Keene State junior Jasmin Mitchell (Meriden, Conn.) knocked down a trifecta from the right side just a tick before the second quarter clock expired to narrow the score to 44-28 in favor of the hosts.
• Out of the halftime break, Owl guards Lily Shlimon (Pelham, N.H.) and Emily McPadden (Tyngsboro, Mass.) each knocked down trifectas to make it a 10-point affair (44-34). Blue and Gold head coach Matt Ducharme's quick timeout at the 8:05 mark went on to spur a 12-0 Corsair run powered in full by Examond's five layups and two free throws. The forward made good on the feeds from teammates Korzec, senior Danyel Gonzalez (Pawtucket, R.I.), and sophomore Meagan Donovan (Abington, Mass.).
• The Corsairs tied the ribbon on their electric 27-point third quarter with an excellent fast break that saw an up court pass zip from junior Kayla McMahon (Hanover, Mass.) to sophomore Lauren Empey (Middleboro, Mass.), who guided the rock with one hand over to the cutting freshman Jess Carroll (Deep River, Conn.) on the weak side for the and-one finish (71-40).
• UMass Dartmouth went on another 11-0 run to open the final period as Moretti poured in five on a three and layup. The backup point guard submitted a 13-point, four-board, three-assist outing in 19 minutes.

• UMass Dartmouth has now taken the last four meetings against Keene State, dating back to the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign.
• The Corsairs have now won 25 of their last 26 conference regular season contests.
• The victors knocked down a season-high nine from three-point land, surpassing their previous best of eight done on Dec. 1 vs. Plymouth State.
• More than half of the Blue and Gold's scoring came from the reserve unit, who registered 50.
• With UMass Boston's 59-46 setback at Castleton, UMass Dartmouth now has a two-game lead in the loss column in the LEC standings over the Beacons, Southern Maine and Eastern Connectitcut.
